Overall

Operating in Malta since 2004, Virgin Poker is a relatively newcomer to the world of online poker, but they've hit the headlines with a fantastic loyalty scheme and an affordable live Poker Festival. This is a poker room that is based on fun and rewarding the player. The £100 bonus they offer is first rate with 180 days to clear it. The Boss Media software is easy to use and there are always loads of tables running games 24/7.

Also being run by Virgin means they can have a loyalty scheme that is second to none. The v-points you earn by playing real money games can be used in other areas of the Virgin like air-miles, vouchers, Virgin Experiences etc or you can just convert them to cash. This is a great bonus to all players who don't want to earn points only to be able to trade it in for a t-shirt!

Overall, Virgin Poker is a great place to play if you're starting out, looking for a good bonus, and/or a player looking for the best rewards for your loyalty. This room is definitely worth a try.

Software

The gameplay is nice & quick and tables are easy on the eye. Thankfully there are no imposing blocky avatars to distract you from the action. There's an option of a four colour deck and note taking function, plus live tabbed statistics on your own play and the table in general. Unfortunately there's no "one-click" hand history from the table which is a shame. There's the option of full screen or windowed playing. Unfortunately there's no option to reduce the size of the windows, or a mini mode view, so this isn't the best site for multi-tabling on. The games generally run around the 40-45 hands per hour mark.

The site and lobby have been designed in a classic red Virgin colour and is styled like most Boss Media lobbys, which is no bad thing. It includes all the features you'd expect including like "find a player", filterable menus, flop %’s etc.. You can also filter the menus to find games played in £'s $'s and €'s which is a nice touch, and filter for games by particular countries which could be an advantage if you like to generalise about a certain nation's playing style (if you feel like playing a whole table of crazy Scandies).

Another nice little feature of Virgin Poker is the 'Players Area' which keeps a record of all you results, your current leaderboard positioning, VIP points etc all in one place.

Traffic

The Boss Media network is around the 9th biggest poker network on the web. This means thant you'll never be short of a game. At peak times there are around 3,000 cash game players and around 13,000 tournament players. Most the play takes place on the texas holdem tables and since Vrigin Poker attracts less serious poker nuts the play is pretty fishy. There's plenty of soft games and money to be won, although there are a few sharks from the Boss Media, in general the games are pretty easy to beat at the lower and mid range limits. Most of the flop %'s are around 40% or above, so you know there's loose action.
