Mike Vela Wins Wpt

SportingLife Poker 15 Nov -- Mike Vela grabbed the money at the end of play at Foxwoods Resort and Casino to become the 2007 World Poker Tour World Poker final table winner.

With a first place of $1,704,986, the heat sure was on. But it was also the allure of the WPT history books that had final table players Nick Schulman and Nenad Medic thinking. If either won, they'd be the first player to claim the same WPT title twice.

But it was not to be, as the eager crowd discovered.

Mike Vela was the eventual champ, claiming the first prize and spoiling the potentially historical evening. Nice going.
