Judge Plays Fair

SportingLife Poker 18 Nov -- An immigration judge ceased the deportation proceedings of a Nevada poker pro recently, when it was found that there was not enough evidence to prosecute him on 1995 charges of sexual battery and child molestation.

U.S. Immigration Court Judge Harry Gastley claimed that the Department of Homeland Security has not provided enough evidence to support that claim that Iranian citizen Shahram "Shawn" Sheikhan committed an offence worthy of deportation.

The immigration department sought to deport the 38-year-old on "two crimes involving moral turpitude not arising out of a single scheme of criminal misconduct."

Sheikhan has already served nine months in jail and five years of probation.

Anyone who has watched high-level poker will recognise Sheikhan for his confrontational style at the tables, and his continual verbal melee with Mike Matusow at the 2005 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
