Britons Overtake Poker Bandwagon
SportingLife Poker 13 Nov -- The British seem to be the latest flagbearers of poker fandom, a recent survey revealed. Over 23% have played poker in some form in the last twelve months, and the numbers are rising!
The research company behind the survey goes on to claim that television is the major contributor to the game's popularity. A fifth of them claim that TV led them to play in the first place.
Furthermore, 35% admit to never actually having wagered real money.
"For the industry, it is clearly not ideal that so many players do not play for real money," said market research group Mintel spokesperson Matt King. "But it does highlight that people do still feel intimidated by the game and that potential gamers are reluctant to dive straight in without having a chance to figure out the basics first. But once they have got a grasp on the game, they are then more likely to put their money where their mouth is."
The figures are expected to increase. Back to November 2007 NewsBack to Poker News Index
