Ladbrokespoker.com's Jeff "JaffaCake" Kimber has triumphed in the Final of the World Heads-Up Championships in Barcelona!
Having not played in the tournament before, Jeff openly admitted that Heads-Up is not his forte. He had a varied range of matches on his way to the final.
His 1st match one one hand with his opponent's 2nd-best straight called by Jeff's nut straight!
As big poker names fell, Jeff reached the quarter final against local favourite Oscar Blanco Carrasco. Off to a less than perfect start, JaffaCake quickly turned a round a deficit to storm into the semi-finals. He was almost eliminated at one point, but Oscar's flush draw failed to improve on the river.
In the semi final he faced Mikko Lehtonnen and, which like his 1st match it didn't last a great deal of time.
Jeff bet 2500 on the turn, with the board reading: 3-3-9-6, and got raised to 6,000. Jeff moved all-in with his 9-3 for a full house. Holding J3 for a three-of-a-kind with a decent kicker, and not all that much money behind him, Mikko has a mandatory call. There was no Jack on the river, meaning the long match that was anticipated was all over.
In the final, JaffaCake played Dan Carter - making it an all-English final - and took home the trophy and a cool €125,000.
Jeff sealed his win with this final hand: All-in with a J-T hearts versus JaffaCake's K-8 spades, Daniel Carter needed help from the cards. But the final board came down Q-4-4-K-J to end the tournament.
