Poker Game Variation - Pick A Partner

  • Highest hand wins
  • Ace plays both high and low for straights.
  • Players act clockwise from the dealer
  1. Deal 5 cards down to each player
  2. Everyone rolls over 1 card
  3. The player with the highest card showing selects another player as a partner. The player with the next highest card selects a partner. This continues until all players are paired up.
  4. Partners combine their remaining 8 cards and choose three of them, discarding 5. Bet. (There should be 2 cards up and 3 down for every partnership).
  5. Each partnership rolls a 3rd card. Bet
  6. Each partnership rolls a 4th card. Bet
  7. Roll the final card to determine winning partner. Winning team splits the pot.

Note: A player may have only one partner and the game must be played with an even number of players. (It's fun-and instructive-to see how easily each set of partners can agree on their bets.
