Poker Game Variation - Buddha's Folly

  • Highest hand wins
  • Ace plays both high and low for straights.
  • Players act clockwise from the dealer
  1. All players must ante in the first round to start the game.
  2. Deal each player 5 cards
  3. one card is dealt face up and offered to the first player. That player may take the card or pass. If the player takes the card, he must replace it with a card from his hand to be passed face up to the next player. The next player may then take the card or let it pass. When a card has been passed face up by all players, bury the card and proceed to the next step.
  4. Every player secretly puts a chip in his hand if he wants to stay in.
  5. Players simultaneously reveal their hands. Those with chips are in; those without are out.
  6. Showdown. If only one player is in, that player wins the pot and the game ends. If more than one player is in, losers match the just-won pot for the next round.

Note: Unlike Guts, Straights and Flushes do exist.
