Beginners Poker - Home Poker GamesTournament or Cash Game?Make sure you make it clear whether you are playing a tournament or a cash game. The difference is in a tournament all the money at the table is won by one person (or the top three players: 1st 60%, 2nd 25%, 3rd 15%). In tournaments you also have to specify whether players can rebuy during the first period (say 1-2 hours) if they all of their chips, then give all players the opportunity to rebuy a set amount of chips (known as an add-on) after which there are no rebuys and the tournament then becomes a freeze out. In cash games a player may come to the table with any amount of money, unless otherwise stated, and can rebuy at any time.
