Before making it big in the poker world he was a chess champion, backgammon champion, and is still a succesful business man. His earliest poker experience was at the now famous "Mayfair Club" in New York where Dan played with players such as Eric Seidel and Howard Lederer. Known by the rather tongue in cheek name, "Action Dan", he is a crafty, tight player renowned for his survival ability in tournaments. This ability shone through when he made back to back WSOP Main Event final tables in 2003 & 2004, but also winning the event and bagging the bracelet in 1995.
